Amir Hosseini hopes that taking his whole Persian rug business from far west-end London to the heart of the city turns out to be one of those magic-carpet rides.

And he hopes to bring all London along, so shoppers in the Forest City can see what he has at his Richmond Rug Gallery on Richmond St. just south of Queens Ave.

“We have $ 5 million worth of stock here. It isn’t just a shop – it’s an art gallery,” Hosseini says.

At his carpet shop, the word “pile” takes on a deeper meaning. He has carpets piled waist-deep on the floors and hanging on the walls of four showrooms on two storeys. There’s barely room for a small business office and even that is stacked with carpets of every size, shape and colour, carpet bags, cushions, mats, Ottomans and other decorative items from the Middle East. Saeid Boustanabadi Maralan, a registered sex offender, was charged Friday with sexually assaulting four more women inside the Laguna Beach branch of Sirous and Sons, one of two rug stores he manages.

The charges follow his arrest earlier this week at Sirous’ San Clemente store, just days after he posted bail on earlier sex charges.

The four women came forward after media coverage of his first arrest. In the new cases, Maralan, a 53-year-old Laguna Niguel resident, was charged with two felony counts of sexual battery by restraint; one felony count each of forcible rape, sexual penetration by a foreign object by force, attempted forcible oral copulation and false imprisonment; and one misdemeanor count of indecent exposure with a sentencing enhancement allegation for committing a sexual offense against more than one victim.

If convicted, he faces a maximum 50 years to life in state prison. Maralan is being held on $ 2 million bail and is expected to be arraigned today in……………. continues on Patch.com
